1. Dolukanda

Due to the limited time available for your vacation, you may focus on must-go places. So there is no room for the places in Kurunegala.

But, I insist you spend some time visiting Dolukanda. It is a remarkable place with a long history and spectacular views where you can get the best experience.

3. Hulangala Mini World’s End Viewpoint – Elkaduwa Plantations

This amazing place is located inside the Selagama Estate. Even a family with small children can get this experience, as this is an easy trek. Feeling tired or lazy of trekking? Not to worry! drive to the summit after getting permission at the entrance. You have to get entrance tickets. Don’t forget to visit Yatawatta Biso Ella, which is nearby.

4.Sri Nagala Rajamaha Viharaya

Experience the breathtaking view and long history at once in this sacred place. Mountain caves are open to the public only on Poya days. So, to get the full experience, plan to go to Sri Nagala Viharaya go on Poya days.

5. Yakdessagala

It is not an easy hike. You start your journey in Sanweli Rajamaha Viharaya. People have marked the road with arrows, but it is better if you go with a local guide. At the summit, you can see a 360-degree view.

6.Paangala( Bread Rock)

You can reach the top by tuk-tuk, bike, or any off-road vehicle. Make sure to have enough fuel in the vehicle because there is no gas station nearby. It’s better to go in the morning or evening with some snacks. Coconut Escape is also situated nearby.

7. Pahan gala

Pahangala lies within the famous historic temple, Ridi Viharaya( Silver Temple) at Rideegama. You can kill two birds with one stone because Silver Temple is a majestic historical place you should see.

8.Athugala( Elephant Rock)

You could see a massive white Buddha statue in the distance when you are in Kurunegala city. That’s Athugala,” the iconic landmark of Kurunegala city. You can reach the top with a vehicle. Get a beautiful view up there in the evening.

1. Coconut Escape

I had a great experience at Coconut Escape.

A Google Maps location leads to one of the gates of the property. But that road is very bumpy and not in good condition. So, it is better to contact the owner to check whether the property is available.

If it is, he will send you the location via WhatsApp. That road is far better than the road shown on the map.

It’s a luxurious villa amidst a coconut plantation. Highly recommended. Add this place to your bucket list. You will thank me later. Nearby attractions include Paangala Mountain and Alawala Amuna.

2.The Hideaway Kurunegala Sri Lanka

This is situated in Indulgodakanda. Visiting there, you can go to the Thempana, which is a forest reserve with a historical background and is perfect for trekking. And a suitable place to escape from a busy life. The road is not in good condition. WiFi and mobile signal are poor.

There are many places to eat in Kurunegala. You can choose from international franchises (KFC, Burger King, Domino’s Pizza, Pizzahut, and Taco Bell) to local restaurants (The Hangout, Perera, and Sons). But I thought I would introduce you to restaurants with good ratings.
