Do you like to see the most scenic 360 view from a top of a hill?
Watch a sunrise or sunset, or camp at the top of the hill surrounded by mist?
Then Kelebokka 360 viewpoint is the place for you.
Let’s know every detail you should know about this beautiful place, which was selected to celebrate World Mountain Day 2019 at the National Celebration in Sri Lanka.
The Kalabokka 360 viewpoint is located near the Panwila area in the Kandy district, on a 5000-acre tea estate that has been designated as Sri Lanka’s largest estate. This peak lies about 4,500 feet above sea level.
You know what the good news is: if you love to hunt waterfalls, there are five of them waiting for you in the Panwila area.
Hulugalla Ella, Lebanan Ella, Thaliya Wetuna Ella, Jodu Ella, and Sari Ella.
If you want to visit all five in a single day, you should use your own transportation rather than public transportation.
Make sure, to keep this place in mind as one of the things to do in Kandy.
Kandy, Sri Lanka to Kelebokka 360 view point
Kandy to kallabokka
Kandy> Wattegama> Panwila > Kelebokka
This place is situated about 35 kilometers away from Kandy. We took Kabaragala Road to reach the entrance through picturesque Madulkelle.
We found a boutique on the way to the top where we ate pol roti and drank fresh milk tea.
Bus
Take the Kabaragala bus from Wattegama and ask the conductor to drop you at the Kelebokka entrance.
Getting to the Kelebokka 360 viewpoint
Some people wonder if they need to hire a guide to reach the summit. No need for a guide.
It’s a 6-kilometer hike through an estate road, or you can take a tuk-tuk from the entrance.
If you ask me, it’s the best thing to do, and it’s also better for your vehicle. As it is a bumpy, rough road, small vehicles cannot drive (alto, wagon R) to the top. Use 4×4 vehicles instead. Even motorbikes can be used, but tread carefully. We heard stories of bike accidents that happened due to carelessness.
We parked our car at the entrance, and the person at the ticket issue counter and the people in the tuk-tuk park ensured that they would keep an eye on our car.
We purchased tickets at a cost of LKR100 each.

Then, a wonderful guy who introduced him as ‘Raja’ offered the tuk-tuk ride to the top of the hill. We didn’t regret giving him his charge of Rs. 1500 up and down as he educated us about the plants in the village and their benefits and also gave us an idea about the surroundings.
No rush, he even helped us get photographs at the viewpoint. On the way to the entrance, we got down from the Tuk-Tuk, time to time, to explore the surroundings and, of course, take photos.
Don’t forget to take enough water to drink.

Night camping at kelebokka 360 View
We didn’t go camping. However, as we get to know you, you should seek permission first. Therefore, call Sri Lanka Estate Cooperation at +94 815 634911 to book the camping site.
They charge you LKR 3500 for camping for one day and provide logs for the campfire. There are not many facilities at the campsite.
You can reserve the kalebokka bungalow as well. But it is not near the 360 viewpoint.

Raja said that he would arrange for us to camp next time. So, you can call him as well. His number is +94762607260.
Take enough water with you. As there is no water supply at the top.

If you’re wondering whether it’s okay to bring your children under the age of 5. It is completely fine as long as you can manage them. When we visited, we saw some children with their parents.
